1 tonne of CO2 - Nii Kaniti

This REDD+ project works to conserve around 120,000 hectares of rainforest in the Peruvian Amazon through sustainable forest management. It works in collaboration with seven communities belonging to two indigenous ethnic groups, Shipibo Conibo and Cacataibo. The protection of these 120,000 hectares of the forest will reduce global emissions by 2.7 million tonnes of CO2 by 2021.
 
1 tonne of avoided CO2 emissions is verified by VERRA under its VCS programme.
